Recommended setup types

Best: Wi-Fi / LAN (Network)

Most stable option for busy locations once configured.

  • Consistent connectivity
  • Ideal for fixed counter setups
  • Less pairing friction than Bluetooth

Good: Bluetooth

Convenient for smaller setups if the printer stays paired to one device.

  • Fast to start with
  • No network wiring required
  • Best when the tablet/phone stays near the printer

Epson TM-m30III (Wi-Fi / Bluetooth)

Why merchants choose it

  • Common hospitality printer used across major delivery platforms
  • Reliable network printing when configured on the same Wi-Fi network
  • Clean output and consistent performance in busy environments

Device notes (iPad/iOS)

Printing behavior can vary by device and app version. If you are using iPad/iOS and do not see a print option, contact support and we will confirm the best setup for your location.

Wi-Fi setup overview (merchant-safe)

Exact screens can vary by printer model. This is the standard workflow used widely in hospitality and POS environments.

  1. Switch the printer to its Wi-Fi printing mode (model-specific; often via the printer’s feed/button flow).
  2. The printer will typically print a slip showing its IP address.
  3. In your Hungry Canadian merchant settings, enter the printer’s IP address where prompted.
  4. Ensure your tablet/phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
  5. Run a test print.
What to send support (to resolve issues faster)
  • Printer model (example: Epson TM-m30III)
  • Connection type (Wi-Fi/LAN or Bluetooth)
  • Device type (Android tablet, iPad, etc.)

NETUM NT-1809DD (Bluetooth) — Android OS 15+ confirmed

  • Confirmed working on: Android devices running Android OS 15 or higher
  • Connection type: Bluetooth
  • Use case: Cost-effective, quick setup for smaller or budget-conscious locations

This option is recommended for Android environments. If you operate on iPad/iOS, contact support and we’ll recommend the best path.

Android Bluetooth setup flow (field-confirmed)

Screen labels may vary by device manufacturer. This is the verified workflow for Hungry Canadian’s Orders app flow.

  1. Turn the printer on.
  2. On your Android tablet, open Settings → Bluetooth.
  3. Locate the printer (often listed as Bluetooth Printer).
  4. Pair and enter the passcode (commonly 1234).
  5. Open the Hungry Canadian Orders app.
  6. Select Orders → open a pending order.
  7. Tap Accept and enter prep time (or accept the default).
  8. The receipt should print automatically.
Important note on receipt width

Hungry Canadian currently prints receipts at a default width of 58mm. If you use wider paper (for example, 80mm rolls), receipts may appear condensed. This is expected behavior and does not affect order accuracy.

Star Micronics (cloud printing workflows)

Some Star Micronics models can be configured for cloud printing workflows. Because models and environments vary, Hungry Canadian support can assist with the correct configuration for your location.

Status: Supported path available; ongoing field validation across real merchant environments. If you are choosing hardware today, Epson TM-m30III is the recommended starting point, and NETUM NT-1809DD is a strong low-cost Android option.

Troubleshooting (fast checks)

  • No power: confirm the power cable is secure and the unit is switched on.
  • No paper / paper error: reload the thermal roll and close the lid firmly.
  • Wi-Fi/LAN issues: confirm printer + device are on the same network; reboot printer/router if needed.
  • Bluetooth issues: confirm it is paired to the correct device and not paired elsewhere.
  • Still stuck: email support@hungrycanadian.ca with printer model + connection type + device type.
